"Kris" Kristian Dee Tynes

March 25, 1974 — December 19, 2020

Waco, Texas

Kris Tynes, 46, of Waco passed away unexpectedly on December 19, 2020 of a non-COVID-related illness while surrounded by loved ones in Waco, TX. A visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 24, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. also at Grace Gardens Chapel. Masks and social distancing will be required at the funeral home. The funeral service will be live streamed.  A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Kris was born March 25, 1974 in Waco, TX to Kenneth Tynes and Linda Covington. He attended Connally High School and graduated in 1993. After graduation, he studied Culinary Arts at TSTC in Waco and enjoyed working in the Brazos Club kitchen for a time. Kris transitioned to working for Home Abstract Title Company and then spent 18 years working as a Deputy Clerk for McLennan County. Kris served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Riesel and was most recently a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church.

In November of 2006, Kris met Brandi Scarborough, and they were married on January 1, 2011 in Riesel, TX. Kris enjoyed time with family and his many friends whether at Shorty’s Pizza Shack, Poppa Rollo’s Pizza, George’s, tailgaiting at Baylor football games or anywhere his people gathered. He was known for his big smile, welcoming heart and boisterous sense of humor. To know him was to love him. Kris loved “with his heart.” This is how he said it. It was never, “with all my heart,” because he did not know how to love in pieces. It was all or nothing.

Kris was preceded in death by his grandparents Alton and Betty Tynes and his great grandmother Annie Tynes.

He is survived by his wife Brandi Tynes and daughters Emmilieze Tynes and Ainsley Scarborough, sisters  Cassie Tynes of Waco, TX and Carrie Norman of West, TX, father Kenny Tynes and wife Kay of Axtell, TX, mother Linda Covington of Waco, TX, step-mother Connie Tynes of West, TX, grandparents Charley and Ethel Lott of Waco, TX, uncles and aunts Dr. Tim and Vanessa Hale of Fulshear, TX and Phil and Suzanne Frederick of Waco, TX, niece Hadley Norman and nephews Samuel and Anthony Battista and Jediah Norman, numerous cousins and innumerable friends that he considered family.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Armstrong, Darren Hancock, Bryan Jaska, Michael Johnson, Richard Martin, Ashley Orr, Chris Pearson, Steven Pearson, Kelly Test and Sonny Tlustos. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
