Larry Gene Forsythe

Larry Gene Forsythe, a man whose life was filled with dedication and service, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, in his home in Waco, Texas. Born on March 24, 1941, in Marion, Indiana, Larry's journey was one of selflessness and compassion that touched the lives of many.

In Indiana, Larry worked tirelessly as a mold repairman at Owens Illinois while also donning the hats of a volunteer Fireman, rescue squad member, and reserve police officer. His commitment to serving others extended beyond the borders of his profession as he dedicated his time to various charitable causes. Larry's quiet strength and genuine care for people were always present in everything he did.

Larry's move to Texas in 1987 did not diminish his spirit of service. He continued his work as a mold repairman at Owens Illinois glass plant and remained actively involved in community endeavors. Known for his reserved yet funny personality with a touch of sarcasm, Larry was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Among Larry's proudest accomplishments were his volunteer service with the rescue squad, firehouse, and police force. He found joy in giving back to his community and making a difference in the lives of others. Larry also had a passion for genealogy, bowling, indulging in ice cream and chocolate treats, and traveling to discover family graves.

Larry is survived by his children Debra Elizabeth Gerstorff and husband, Wendell, Jr., Betsy Heflin Oxner and husband, Jeff, Michael Forsythe and wife, Tami; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; previous wife Patricia Forsythe, extended daughter Kim Walters, and numerous special cousins. Although no longer physically present with us, Larry's legacy of kindness and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was predeceased by his brother, Jerry Forsythe.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Larry's life will be 2:00pm, Thursday, March 28th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Cremation in Woodway, Texas. A time for family and friends to gather and share memories will follow shortly after. In honoring Larry Gene Forsythe's memory, let us cherish the moments shared with him and continue spreading the same love and kindness he so wholeheartedly gave during his time on earth.
