In Loving Memory of Lupe J. Capetillo

November 20, 1933 – July 1, 2026

With profound sadness and deep love, we announce the passing of Maria Guadalupe "Lupe" J. Capetillo, who entered into eternal rest on July 1, 2026, at the age of 92.

Born on November 20, 1933, in Kyle, Texas, Lupe was the beloved daughter of Felipe Juarez and Elvira Castillo. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family and to everyone blessed to know her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Guadalupe "Lupe" J. Capetillo on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium- 8220 Woodway Drive, Woodway, Texas 76712

Visitation: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Rosary: 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Celebration of Life: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Following the service, interment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 South 5th Street, Waco, Texas 76706 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Some people leave footprints wherever they go. Lupe left hugs, warm meals, kind words, and a whole lot of love.

She wasn't just a grandmother to her own family—she became Grandma to neighbors, friends, children who needed a little extra encouragement, and anyone fortunate enough to cross her path. If you walked through her door, you were family. No questions asked.

Guadalupe had a remarkable gift for making people feel at home. Whether it was sharing a meal, checking in with a phone call, offering comforting advice, or simply listening with an open heart, she made people feel seen, valued, and deeply loved.

Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and dear friend whose gentle heart, unwavering faith, quiet strength, wisdom, and unconditional love touched countless lives. She lived by serving others and always put the needs of those she loved before her own.

Guadalupe is lovingly survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne Capetillo, and her son, Louis Capetillo Jr., both of Waco, Texas; her cherished grandchildren, grandsons Erik Tomas Capetillo and wife Verri, Esteban Felipe Alonzo and wife Matilda, and granddaughters Erin Michel Alonzo and Nancy Capetillo. Her great-grandchildren, Aidan Erik Capetillo, Alizéa Gabrielle Alonzo, Aidrik Dain Capetillo, Avian Cane Alonzo, Alasia Janay Capetillo, Alexandria Nicole Alonzo, Emery Analyssa Cervantez, great-great-grandson Sebastian Richard Capetillo, sister, Rosa Juarez Delgado, plus her great-grand dog Nala "Nalita," along with extended family, and many dear friends, all of whom will forever carry her love in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by beloved family members, her 1st husband, Louis Capetillo Sr., her 2nd husband, George Duarte, Father Felipe Juarez, Mother Elvira Castillo, and brothers Alfredo Juarez, Frutoso Juarez, and Benito Juarez, and sister Carmen Luera.

Cooking was the language of Guadalupe's love. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where family, friends, and even strangers were always welcomed with a warm meal and an open heart. She believed that feeding others was one of life's greatest expressions of love and found immense joy in bringing people together around her table. No one ever left her home hungry. Her homemade meals, treasured recipes, and generous hospitality created memories that will be cherished for generations.

She believed kindness didn't have to be complicated. It was found in the little things—a warm smile, remembering birthdays, making sure no one went without a meal, offering words of encouragement, and giving the kind of hug that could make even the hardest day feel lighter.

If Lupe were here today, she would tell us not to spend too much time being sad. She would remind us to laugh together, gather around the table, take care of one another, and never miss an opportunity to tell someone they are loved.

The greatest way to honor her is not only by remembering her, but by living as she did—welcoming others in, sharing what you have, loving generously, and always making room for one more at the table.

Your love lives on in every life you touched, every lesson you taught, every meal you lovingly prepared, and every heart made warmer because you were here.
