With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lupe Montalvo, who entered into eternal rest on November 1, 2026, at her home in Waco, Texas.
Lupe was a woman whose life was defined by love, kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She dedicated 33 years of service to the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Waco, where she faithfully served veterans and their families with compassion and professionalism. Her career reflected her generous spirit and her desire to help others.
While she was proud of her work, Lupe's greatest joy was her family. She treasured traveling with her daughter, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Whether gathered around a dinner table, celebrating milestones, or simply enjoying time together, Lupe's happiest moments were spent with those she loved. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. To many, she was much more than a friend or relative. She was a second mother, a confidante, a source of wisdom, and a constant presence of unconditional love.
Lupe was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Alice Winnett; her father, Jessie G. Rodriguez; her sister, Rita Tobias; her cherished grandson, Jose Daniel Ramos; and many beloved uncles, cousins, and an aunt whom she held close to her heart.
She leaves behind a family who adored her and will carry her memory with them always: her uncle, Castro, and his wife, Elivira; her uncle, Lucas Obiedo; her daughter, Virginia "Jenny" A. Ramos; her son, Richard "Rick" Arriaga; her nephew, Tony Tobias Jr.; her grandchildren, Jennifer R. Castillo, Karah Dale, Chasity Jade Arriaga, and Zachary Joe Arriaga; and her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lucas, Zoe, and Everett. She also leaves behind countless extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were forever enriched by her presence.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Magnolia Hospice of Waco for their compassionate care and support. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Carol Lechler and Chris Sparkman, Lupe’s devoted friends, for their kindness, comfort, and compassionate care they provided. Special appreciation is also extended to the dedicated physicians, nurses, and staff of Baylor Scott & White Oncology, as well as the hospital team, whose exceptional care and support guided Lupe and her family throughout her illness.
A graveside service celebrating Lupe's life will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. Flowers may be brought to the graveside service.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Lupe's legacy of love, generosity, and faithfulness will live on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in our hearts.
"What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." ❤️
