Mary "Candy" Ann (Crouse) McDaniels

Woodway, Texas

Mary “Candy” McDaniels of Woodway, Texas passed peacefully in her sleep at Providence hospital on Saturday, November 26, 2022. A visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 pm, Friday, December 2nd at Grace Gardens Funeral Home, Woodway. A Graveside service will be at 10:30 am, Saturday, December 3rd at Robinson Cemetery.

Candy was born in Columbus, Mississippi to Clyde Cornell and Daisy Belle (Morris) Crouse. She was the second oldest of six children living in Tennessee and Arizona before the family settled in Waco in 1954. She graduated from University High School and Truman’s Beauty School in 1961 obtaining her Beauty Operator License. Corkey and Candy met while in high school, marrying in 1963, enjoying fifty-three years of love, laughter and chaos with four active children and a trade that took Corkey out of town for long periods of time. Candy devoted all of her adult life to her children, their friends and her grandchildren. Her little sister, Daisy Kemp, was a faithful friend and companion to her after Corkey passed. Candy was a talented painter and crafter which she enjoyed with her grandchildren. She was an excellent seamstress, photographer and enjoyed reading historical novels.

Anyone that knew Candy had her whole heart and faithful friendship.

Candy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jarrell; husband, A.D. Jr. “Corkey”; in-laws; and niece, Kim Sumerour.

She is survived by her sisters, Peggy Erickson, PJ Gresham, Brenda Hammond and Daisy Kemp; brother, Clyde “Bubba” Crouse; brothers-in-law John Erickson, Freddy Gresham, Kenny Kemp; children, Stacey Herrin and husband Charlie, Randee Klingele and husband Mark and Jason McDaniels and wife Claire; beloved grandchildren Jack, Chad and Adam Herrin, Mark Jr., Katie and Mallory Klingele and Reagan and Reese McDaniels; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers Candy requested donations be made in her memory to Mission Waco or a charity of your choice.
