Melissa Joan Givens

Melissa Givens, 48 of Waco, passed away on January 3, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer. A visitation will be 2-4 pm, Sunday, January 7,2024, Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Melissa was born September 11, 1975, in Fort Worth, Texas to Mr. & Mrs. Gerald Robert Givens. Growing up in Colorado Spring and settling in Waco, Texas where she met her husband, Steven Galvez. She Graduated from McLennan Community College with a Associates and Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She enjoyed spending time with her girls and spoiling her grandchildren. Her hobbies include knitting, baking, and trying new recipes. She also enjoyed going to concerts and hiking and exploring.

She was employed at the Health and Human Service Commission where she enjoyed her coworkers who became some of her closest friends. She enjoyed her work as she genuinely enjoyed helping people.

She is Proceeded in death by her father Gerald Robert Givens

Survivors include her children, Anissa Bryona, Naomi Consuelo Pena, Angelita Pena, Heath Nash, Kaci Livingood, Danelle Galvez, Andrea Galvez; her husband, Steven Galvez; brother, Jonathan Givens and wife Leigh-Ann; and best friend Megan Baker.

Her Grandchildren, Jay'adrian Pena, Kaleab Joe Vasquez, Nya'Lissa Janae Isela Madina, Mylah Jane Nash, R'mon Dane Anderson, D'mon Dantrell Anderson, Giana Faith Nash, Isiah D. Nash, Trinity Nash, Jace Grantham, Ariel Grantham, Brently Livingood and Kaisely Livingood.
