Nancy Melinda Hamilton entered the comfort of her Savior Jesus Christ on February 16th, 2026, in Waco, Texas. We invite all of her friends and family to honor her life with us at 2 PM on Saturday, February 28th, 2026, at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Woodway, Texas. The service will be followed there by two hours of come-and-go viewing and supportive rejoicing. Our beloved Dr. Rex Bland, pastor of Olive Branch Baptist Church of Axtell, Texas, will lead the funeral service, and our dear friend Mr. Charlie Burch will bless us with both solo and congregational songs of hope and worship.

On the 18th of April, 1958, Mendy was born to Chester Junior Huggins and Jessie Frank Petsick Huggins of Wichita Falls, Texas. With her two older brothers, their home was alive with creative projects, sports, neighborhood friends, and many unusual but loveable pets. Central to the Huggins family was their Episcopal faith and Godly dedication. Her mother taught in a Christian school. When Mendy was fourteen years old, her US Navy veteran father retired from Civil Service teaching at Sheppard Air Force Base so that they could move to the farm of her aging grandparents near Goldthwaite, Texas. There she enjoyed her high school years with new close friends, in spite of being known as her teachers’ and the principal’s pet. She then moved to Waco and McLennan Community College where she earned the Associate of Science Degree in Mental Health, and was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, which honors top academic achievers.

During her college years she was united in Christian matrimony with James “Scott” Hamilton, who had come to Waco and Baylor University from years of enviable experiences as a Southern Baptist “missionary kid” in Baguio City, Philippines. Her employment included some years as a nursing home activities director, but was crowned by fourteen years of selflessly home-schooling their two sons. By that time, the chronic pain of fibromyalgia had invaded her blissful life. Recent years added difficult struggles following open heart surgery and chronic congestive heart failure. Yet Mendy faced these all with full trust in God’s Word.

Mendy was preceded in death by both of her parents, and is survived by her two brothers Michael and Marvin Huggins and their six children. She is also survived by her dedicated husband of forty-nine years and their two sons, Jason and Jeffrey. These are graced and favored by Jason’s wife, Mandy, and their children Adam and Tara; and Jeff’s wife, Heather, and their children Christian, Carina, and Nathan. Christian and his darling partner Ali have also greatly blessed Mendy and Scott with a most precious, loveable and vivacious great-granddaughter, Rockelle!

The family suggests any supportive generosity for flowers should rather be offered to the National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA). Please click this link for their informative brochure.
