Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Nelda Hamill Fletcher, of Waco, Texas, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 1, 2026, following a brief illness.

A woman of deep and abiding Christian faith, Nelda lived her life with a quiet strength and steadfast devotion to the Lord. Her faith was not simply something she professed, but something she carried with her each day, finding comfort, peace, and strength in her relationship with Christ. She cherished her family deeply and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was marked by kindness, grace, and an unwavering love for those around her.

Nelda will be remembered for the gentle way she cared for others, the strength of her faith, and the love she so freely gave to her family. Her presence was a gift to those who knew her, and the legacy of love and faith she leaves behind will continue through the generations.

She is survived by her children, Jeff Fletcher and wife Brenda of Waco; Shannon Stewart of Waco; and John Fletcher and wife Marian of Huntsville.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tyler Stewart and wife Hannah of Lorena; Taylor Merritt and husband Brent of Waco; Morgan McCall and husband Mitch of Ovilla; Jake Fletcher and wife Payton of Dallas; Luke Stewart and wife Ashlyn of Austin; Bryson Fletcher of Dallas; and step-granddaughter Emily Smith of Bee Cave, as well as eleven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Woodway First United Methodist Church, followed by a service celebrating Nelda’s life at 11:00 a.m.
