Oliver Mack Rogers Jr. Died Tuesday April 21st, 2026 in Waco, Tx at the age of 79.

Mack Rogers Jr. was born in McComb, MS on October 15th, 1946. His family moved to Wichita Falls, TX in 1961 where he graduated from High School in 1964 and entered military service. Serving initially in the Marine Corps Reserve, he soon transferred to the Texas National Guard to attend Officer Candidate School. Mack was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1966. He volunteered for Active Duty in 1968, completed Airborne Training and Ranger School and then served a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam in 1969. Among other decorations, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge and the Bronze Star for bravery in ground combat. He remained on Active Duty for 10 years serving in various assignments world-wide. He returned to reserve status in 1980 to take a position with the insurance firm of John L. Wortham & Son in Houston, TX. Mack was eventually promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Reserves and named full partner with the Wortham organization. Upon retiring from Wortham in 2010 he continued teaching as an adjunct faculty professor of risk management at the University of Houston.

Mack seemed happiest when he could be of service to others. He was a loving and supportive partner, father, uncle, friend and teacher. He left his mark on many people through the years and will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his father Mack Sr., mother Bette, brother Larry, and former wives D’Anne and Cynthia. He is survived by his wife Judy, children Greg and his wife Rebecca, Mark and his wife Misty, Julia and her husband Brendan, step-children Zachary Ogle, Renea Dayton and her husband Duncan, grandchildren Davis, Mia, Nelson, and Nicolette, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A private service will be held at a future date.
