Raymond Rivera Perez, Sr., a steadfast figure in the lives of many, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on May 4, 1944, in Calvert, Texas, Raymond dedicated over forty years of his life to a career as an asphalt layer.

Raymond’s journey began with his education in trade, specifically to become a blacktop layer. His work was not merely a job; it was a sign of his strong work ethic and resilience. Known for his no-nonsense approach to life in Ohio, he earned a reputation for not taking anything from anyone and always looked out for his neighbors.

Raymond leaves behind a legacy filled with love, friendship, and family. He is survived by Frances Quintanilla, a close and dear friend and mother to his children: Ramona Perez Garcia, Raymond Rivera Perez, Jr., Mary Ann Perez, and Rosita Perez Melendez. He leaves behind his children from Coleen, Jesusa Rebecca Perez, Raymond Perez, and Jesse Cantu Perez. His family extends to several siblings, including his dear sisters Rosita Perez Steel of Ohio and Gracie Perez of Arizona. As a proud patriarch, Raymond will be remembered fondly by his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a testament to his impact on his family across both Ohio and Texas.

Raymond was preceded in death by his loving mother, Jesusa Rivera, and father, Bidal Perez. He was also mourned by the loss of his daughter, Elizabeth Marie Perez, and grandson, Justin Perez, as well as his ex-wife, Coleen Harshbarger. As we remember Raymond, we celebrate a life that was rich in hard work, connection, and a protective nature.
