Richard O’Daniels, 77, of Lorena, TX passed away on December 21, 2023 at his home. A Rosary will be held 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 1, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Benjie of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. A mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church will take place on January 2, at 10 a.m., followed by the burial at 1 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
Richard was born May 28, 1946, in New York, NY, to Edward and Dorothy O’Daniels. After high school, he joined the Air Force and served for more than 20 years, including two tours in Vietnam. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and worked as a Quality Engineer for the US government until his retirement. After living the majority of his life on Long Island, New York he moved to Lorena, TX in 1999 and remained there until his death.
Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his kindness, sense of humor, and listening ear. He had a heart of gold, always ready to help anyone he saw was in need. He is survived by his wife, Ofelia; his children, Michael, Holly, Irma, Carla and Francisco; his siblings, Doris (Sissy) and Barry; and his five grandchildren.
In his spare time, he enjoyed building model airplanes, coin collecting, metal detecting, and learning about his ancestors as he built his family tree. He treasured his time with his wife, children, and grandchildren, sharing his passions with them.
