Ross Hughes Taylor, 66, of Waco, Texas passed away Friday, June 16, 2023 at his home.  There will be a graveside service Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:00 am at the Lorena Cemetery.

Ross was born July 22, 1956 in Waco, TX.  He was the oldest son of Earl Raymond Taylor & Elizabeth Estes Taylor.  His parents had moved to Fort Worth by the time he was in the 3rd grade & Ross spent his remaining formative years in the Richland Hills area of Fort Worth.  He graduated from Trinity High School after transferring into the HEB school district to swim for the only area school with a high school swim team.  He had many fond memories of his swim coaches and fellow swimmers.

As a child, Ross enjoyed Boy Scouts and became a quick fan/member of the Mid Cities Swim Team in middle school.  Ross was a graduate of Austin College where he also swam on the swim team & made it to Nationals in the backstroke.  He was a proud member of the Drake Fraternity and graduated with a BA with concentrations in Accounting & Economics.  He received his MBA from Texas Tech University with concentrations in Finance & Banking.  Ross had a long career in commercial Real Estate including asset management & compliance, most recently for Midland Loan Services (PNC) and prior to that for MIG Realty Advisors.  He also served as an Investment Officer for AMRESCO Inc.  Ross enjoyed living in Dallas, West Palm Beach, San Francisco, Cleveland, & Overland Park, but was glad to come back to his birthplace, Waco, TX, in 2015 to be close to his family.  Ross was a really good athlete and particularly enjoyed racquetball, snow skiing, cycling, & golf in his adult years.  He was an avid reader & delighted in watching his niece & nephews grow up.  He took a memorable trip to Russia as well as several ski/golf trips across the US.  Ross valued his time living at Lake Air Tower where he served on the Board of Directors & embraced several new friendships.  He also followed two prior generations as a loyal Lady Bears fan.

Ross was preceded in death by his father, Ray Taylor, sister, Ruth Taylor Tilghman,   grandparents Elizabeth Williams Estes, and Myrt & Lloyd Taylor.  Ross is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Estes Taylor of Lorena, his sister Beth Taylor Musgrave & husband Pat of Lorena, nephews Jordan Musgrave & wife Priscilla Tsai of Memphis, Taylor Musgrave of Lorena, Travis Musgrave of Austin, and Halley Taylor Kirkland of Moody.  Extended family includes local cousins Shap & Leann Williams, Cris Baldridge, Robyn & Malcolm Foster, Ryan Baldridge, Carol & Dave Turner of Fort Worth, Rosalis Estes of Jackson, WY and Rosanne Zapp  & family of San Clemente, CA.  He had several other cousins & many friends that he always enjoyed seeing & keeping up with.

Honorary pallbearers are dear friends Rob Whitaker & Scott Calley, and family members Shap Williams, Dave Turner, Pat Musgrave, Jordan Musgrave, Taylor Musgrave & Travis Musgrave.    The family requests any memorials be sent to the Lorena Cemetery Association (PO Box 51, Lorena, TX 76655), or a charity of your choice.
