Russell Wayne Clopton

September 24, 1973 — March 23, 2024

Hewitt, Texas

Russell Wayne Clopton passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on Saturday, March 23, 2024.  Russell was born in Seguin, TX, on September 24, 1973, to Rusty and Sandy Clopton.  He graduated from Seguin High School in 1992, and received a BA in English Studies from Texas Lutheran University in 1998.

On March 7, 1998, he married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Clark.  Russell and Pam were both employed by American Biological Technologies in Seguin for three years until they moved to Waco, TX, to begin careers at Allergan, later becoming AbbVie.  Russell was a senior scientist for 22 years until his illness prevented him from continuing.

Outside of work, Russell had a passion for music, having taught himself to play guitar as a child and creating his own home music recording studio.  His favorite band was always the Beatles.  He also enjoyed camping, kayaking, gardening, and was an avid reader of non-fiction such as religion, philosophy, cosmology, and science.   Russell loved life and his family.   He always had a big hug and smile for family members and friends. He loved teasing his nieces and nephews and could be found playing with their toys on Christmas.  He was a member of Alliance Bible Church in Waco for 22 years, and knew that he would be spending eternity with his Lord Jesus.

He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Jack and Charlotte Clopton, and maternal grandparents, Marvin and Thusnelda Friedeck.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Pamela; his parents; brother, David (Susan) Clopton; in-laws, David and Judy Clark; sister-in-law, Cindy (Steve) Meeker; brother-in-law, Russell Clark; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and nurses at BSW McClinton Cancer Center in Waco, and the Simmons Cancer Center at UT Southwestern in Dallas.

A Celebration of Life will be 10am, Friday, March 29th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home. A visitation will be 6-8pm, Thursday, March 28th, also at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mission Waco.
