Scott Wayne Turner, 62, of Waco, Texas, passed away on May 16, 2026. The family is gathering for a large family reunion during the week of July 11–17, 2026. A memorial service to honor Scott’s life will be held during that week.

Scott was born in Tucson, Arizona, to Thad and Kathleen Turner on September 5, 1963. The family moved to Texas in 1978 to be closer to extended family. He graduated from Axtell High School in 1981.

On August 4, 1984, Scott married Melissa Nieman, his best friend and the love of his life. Together they were blessed with two sons, Jacob Scott Turner and Kory Zane Turner. Later, Scott became the proud grandfather of two grandsons, Liam Hayes Turner and Bowen Reid Turner. His boys meant everything to him.

Scott never met a stranger and quickly became friends with anyone he met. He was an excellent cook and made a wide variety of hot sauces that he generously shared with family and friends.

He always had a smile on his face and would do anything for anyone.

Scott loved music from the 1960s and 1970s. He knew all the titles and the artists who sang them, and he would always tell the kids, “This song pays a dollar.” He still owes the kids a lot of money.

He loved attending Liam and Bowen’s sporting events. He taught them to play chess and all kinds of card games. He usually had a scratch-off lottery ticket for the winner.

Scott was always fascinated with rocks and gemstones, digging for arrowheads, and building fires. He loved playing dominoes, cards, and golf with his friends. One of his favorite memories was making a hole-in-one on April Fool’s Day.

Scott’s generous heart, contagious smile, and unwavering love for his family touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those blessed to call him husband, dad, Papa, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, Thad Turner.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 41 years, Melissa Turner; his sons, Jacob Turner and Kory Turner; his daughter-in-law, Wriki Turner; his grandsons, Liam Hayes Turner and Bowen Reid Turner; his mother, Kathleen Turner; his brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Jill Turner; his sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Gary Findley; his sister, Kari Turner; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Buddy and Dee Nieman, his brother-in-law and wife, Chris and Susanne Nieman; his beloved fur baby, Jade; many nieces and nephews; many cousins he called friends; and many friends he called family.

He is now in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
