Sheryl McKamie

August 19, 1968 — June 8, 2025

Waco, Texas

Sheryl Lynn Arnold Mckamie passed away peacefully into heaven on June 8, 2025, after suffering an allergic reaction on May 11, 2025. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 a.m., at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Sheryl Lynn Arnold McKamie was born on August 19, 1968, to Frank and Jenny Arnold in Chicago Heights, Illinois. In 1976, her family moved to Hewitt, Texas, where Sheryl quickly made this community her true home. Though not born in Texas, she proudly embraced the Texan spirit.

A devoted Christian, Sheryl was baptized as a young child at Woodway Methodist Church, a faith that remained close to her heart throughout her life. She graduated from Midway High School in 1986 and, at the same time, earned her cosmetology license. For a brief time, she worked as a hairstylist.

In 1992, Sheryl earned a Booking/Accounting Certificate from Four C Business College, which led to many years of hard work and dedication in various roles. She worked at Foxworth Galbraith, Bear Graphics, McLennan County Health Services, and most recently, LKQ Keystone Automotive. She loved her job there and felt truly blessed to spend 10 years with a company she respected. Sheryl cherished the friendships she formed with her bosses and coworkers and was always someone they could count on —for a snack, a smile, or a helping hand.

Sheryl's heart was big and generous. Following in her parents' footsteps, she helped establish the Hewitt Elks Lodge #2881, where she remained an active member.

Music was one of Sheryl's great loves-especially hard rock—and she treasured every opportunity to enjoy live music with family and friends. Some of her happiest memories were vacations spent at the beach, surrounded by those she loved. A passionate sports fan, Sheryl never missed watching a Baylor Bears game on Saturday or a Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday, cheering loudly no matter the score.

Sheryl never met a stranger and maintained close friendships that lasted a lifetime, including many from her childhood. A lively person, she was always ready for a good time and quick with a laugh, making every moment more enjoyable. Sheryl never had a bad attitude and approached life with a positive, upbeat spirit that made her a joy to be around, but if she had an opinion, she let you know it-Sheryl was very forward and always spoke her mind with honesty and confidence. She was that friend who would talk to you until all hours of the night. Her kindness, loyalty, and ability to be there when it mattered most made her a true treasure to all who knew her.

Above all, Sheryl's greatest joy was being a mom to her daughter, Brooke. But nothing compared to the pride and love she felt when she became "Grammy" to her granddaughter, Kynlee. She delighted in sharing stories about Kynlee and treasured every moment they spent together.

Sheryl is survived by her mother, Jenny Arnold; daughter, Brooke Allison (Keith Mundie); granddaughter, Kynlee Mundie; the father of Brooke, Bill Allison; aunt Cathie Stahl (Mike Stahl); uncle Dan Northcutt (Jane Northcutt); aunt Candy Goodman (Dennis Goodman); aunt Cheri Winegardner (Mel Winegardner); and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Frank Arnold; paternal grandparents Georgia and Don McCavitt; maternal grandparents William "Bill" Northcutt and Mary "Jenny" Northcutt; uncle Bill Northcutt (Priscilla Northcutt); and cousin Keri Penrod.

The family requests to honor Sheryl you wear purple or Dallas Cowboy attire if you choose.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Providence Hospice (6700 Sanger Ave. Waco, Texas 76710/254-399-9099). Checks can be written to Providence Hospice, in memory of Sheryl Mckamie.
