Woodway, Texas

Steve M. Besa, Jr., 81, of Woodway, Texas passed away on February 22, 2024 in Woodway, Texas.  Steve was born in Austin, Texas on October 12, 1942 to the late Rose Estrada and Steve Besa, Sr.  Steve was raised in Austin, Texas and attended Johnston High School and then went into the United States Air Force.  After his time in the Air Force, Steve worked as a welder and machinist throughout his life and retired from HUCK Manufacturing in Waco, Texas after many years.

Steve was a husband, Dad, Papaw, Sensei, brother, uncle, and loyal friend.  He was an athlete growing up and remained an avid sports fan.  You could often find him at the baseball fields, golf course, Karate Dojo, or football stadium watching and often “coaching” his favorite teams.  As a lifelong University of Texas Longhorns and Texas Rangers fan, he never missed watching a game.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter Ann Marie, his mother-in-law, Peggy Housewright, and his brother-in-law Jerry Tokola.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Rhonda Housewright Besa of Woodway, Texas; his daughter Michelle Acosta and husband Jeffrey Wilson of Austin, Texas, his daughter Stephanie Jackson and fiancé Keith Hrachovy of Lorena, Texas, and his son Stephen Besa of Woodway, Texas; grandchildren Eric Acosta, Destany Acosta, Tianna Acosta, and Caleb Jackson; great-grandchildren Stacey Rodriguez, Amber Rodriguez, Genesis Olvera, Joseph Olvera, and Melany Velazquez; his brother Leonard Estrada and wife Bonnie, brother John Hernandez and wife Lupe, brother Thomas Garcia, sister Annabell Tokola, sister-in-law Tanya Brewer and brother-in-law Larry Brewer, brother-in-law Rob Housewright, Jr., and father-in-law Robert Housewright, Sr.; and many special nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Accent Home Health for their many years of kindness and care and to Woodway Police Department for their consistent support and assistance.

For those who would like, memorial contributions may be made in Steve’s honor to Midway Little League at PO Box 21253, Waco, Texas 76702.
