Tim Flanagan Sr., 82, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in McGregor, Texas. Born on March 12, 1943, in Corsicana, Texas, Tim lived a life rooted in dedication to family, faith, and community.
After graduating from Corsicana High School, he married his high school sweetheart and they resided in Nacogdoches, Texas while he attended Stephen F. Austin State University. After graduating, he began his career in the insurance business which brought him to Corpus Christi and eventually Beaumont, Texas. They later moved to Waco, Texas where he established a successful career as the owner and operator of Waco Nissan, Inc. For over 42 years, Tim served the Waco area with integrity and commitment, building a thriving business and lasting relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
A devoted member of New Road Church of Christ, Tim found joy in his faith and the fellowship it brought. He was widely respected for his honesty and loyalty—qualities that endeared him to many throughout his life.
Tim had a lifelong passion for sports and competition. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours at Lake Waco Country Club enjoying the game he loved as a member of the 1 o'clock group. He approached every match with enthusiasm and camaraderie. He also gave back to the community by coaching Little League baseball for many years in Beaumont and Waco (Lake Air Little League). Tim also enjoyed quail and dove hunting, a hobby he learned from his father as they spent many father/son outings in the Corsicana area hunting on everyone's land whether they had permission or not. In recent years, he enjoyed playing dominos weekly, winning many trophies he liked to show off to his grandchildren.
He never missed a ballgame or golf tournament involving his children or grandchildren. His steadfast support from the sidelines was a constant source of encouragement to those he held dear. Tim never met a stranger and seemed to know someone everywhere he went.
Tim is lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Theresa Flanagan; sons, Tim Flanagan Jr. of Morrison, Colorado and Mark Flanagan (Amy) of Bluffton, South Carolina; daughter, Cathy (Casie) Flanagan of Dallas, Texas; and grandchildren Carson, Hudson, Kellan, and Kyndal. He was preceded in death by his father, E.C. Flanagan; mother, Lois Flanagan; and brother, Mike Flanagan.
Tim’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched—with every handshake at the dealership, every game coached or attended, every round of golf shared, and every game of dominos with friends. Until we meet again, we will miss having recaps of every disastrous Cowboys game and will think of him with every passing glance of a Gunsmoke rerun on the television.
We'd like to extend a heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Cristina Lara, who was his longtime caretaker. Over the years Tim and Cristina formed a special bond as she succumbed to his continuous Whataburger runs and provided his ride to domino games.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
