Vera June White Oberg (née Glascock), known lovingly as Mama June, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 107. She was born on June 12, 1917, in Welch, Oklahoma, and lived a life full of dedication to her family and faith.

Mama June spent her career as a missionary, schoolteacher, and homemaker, always helping others. She touched many lives through her commitment to education and spiritual guidance at home and abroad. She loved reading, writing poetry and stories, painting, and crafts, showing her creative spirit and passion for lifelong learning. Mama June also loved traveling and had a great sense of adventure, even late in life.

As a devout member of the Church of Christ, she worshiped and served in different congregations, leaving behind a legacy of faith and kindness. Her life exemplified the Biblical teachings she cherished, always showing compassion and thoughtfulness. Her favorite Scripture was Romans 8:28.

Mama June is survived by her children, Ruth Foster, Gus White (Candy), and Linda Bell (Mike), a stepson, Ronney Oberg (Barbara), and a son-in-law, Bob Pitts. She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren, who will all miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, French and Callie Glascock, two brothers, Robert and Vernon Glascock, a sister, Hazel Ross, her husbands, Augustine White, Jr. and Rex Oberg, her daughters, Betty Pitts and Melva Clyde, two sons-in-law, Don Foster and Mearl Clyde, a grandson, Kirk Pitts, and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Avery.

A memorial service to honor her life will be held on August 31, 2024, at Crestview Church of Christ in Waco, Texas, at 10:00 AM. Memorial gifts can be sent to Colorado Christian Services Adoption Agency, 3959 E Arapahoe Rd, Suite 200, Centennial, CO 80122.

Grace Gardens Funeral Home in Waco, TX, is assisting the family during this time. Mama June's life was filled with love and generosity, and she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
