Listen to Obituary

The family of Vincent C. Puente, Jr. announces his peaceful passing on October 18, 2025. Born on Christmas Eve, 1949, in Rosebud, Texas, to Vicente C. Puente, Sr. and Enedina C. Castillo Puente, Vincent’s life was a true reflection of faith, service, and devotion to family.

A proud graduate of Rosebud High School, Vincent answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he built a distinguished 20-year career. While serving, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Management, demonstrating his commitment to both education and excellence. As an orthopedic surgery technician and first assistant in numerous procedures, he brought steady hands, intelligence, and compassion to his work. His service took him to Air Force bases across the globe, including San Antonio, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska; Grand Forks, North Dakota; Bitburg, Germany; and Omaha, Nebraska.

In 1991, Vincent proudly participated in the Gulf War (Desert Storm) before retiring from the Air Force with honor. Returning home to Central Texas, he continued his life of service through a second, meaningful career as a Veterans Affairs Benefits Counselor, where for 21 years he guided and supported countless veterans and their families with empathy and integrity.

Vincent and his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Rose, shared a life rich in love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they traveled through twelve European countries and thirty-four states, collecting memories and friendships along the way. A man of faith, Vincent was an active member of St. Jerome Catholic Church, where he served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered wherever needed.

Vincent is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Rose; his loving son, Nicolas, and wife Alannah; his sister, Janie Puente; brother, Raymond Puente and wife Nancy; and a large, cherished circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Vincent will be remembered for his generosity, quick wit, kindness, and down-to-earth wisdom. He found joy in simple pleasures—fishing, traveling, water aerobics at WRS, and above all, family gatherings, especially the Thanksgiving celebrations he hosted with such pride and warmth. His presence brought light, laughter, and love to every room he entered.

Vincent’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was greatly admired, deeply loved, and will be profoundly missed.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated docotrs, nurses, and medical staff at BSW Cancer Center, Visiting Angles, and Ridegcrest staff. Your compassion and care make a world of difference.

Pallbearers: Jason Puente, Justin Puente, John Molina, Jr., Gilbert Sais, Gilbert Sais, Jr., Marcus Sais. Honorary Pallbearers: Patrick Blackwell (Idaho), Frank Greene (Arizona), and the ROMEO group.
