Virginia Scott passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 17 at her home in Crawford surrounded by her loving family. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 21st, 11am at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Crawford.
She was born Carrie Virginia Alexander on August 5, 1934, on the family farm near Moody, Texas to her loving parents Jack and Maude (England) Alexander but was called only Virginia throughout her life. Very few people knew her first name.
Her favorite activity was roller skating, and she and her girlfriends would go to search for the best skating rinks close to home. She attended school in Moody with a few of her elementary years spent in Dallas but graduated from Moody with honors in 1952.
The family moved to Fort Worth after her graduation for a job opportunity so that is where Virginia began her working career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, now known as AT&T, retiring in 1991 after almost 40 years.
After moving to Fort Worth, she met and married Charles Scott on November18, 1955. They were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Pamela Ann Scott LaSalle.
When she retired, she was a supervisor in the budgeting department and managed a substantial portion of the five-state area of Southwestern Bell. After retirement, she moved to Crawford and built her home across from her sister. They enjoyed traveling with family and went to England, Europe, Alaska and of course the many trips to Branson. She really enjoyed the fellowship of the We Belong Senior group at First Baptist Church and looked forward to their meetings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years Charles Scott, and daughter Pamela LaSalle.
Survivors include her son-in-law John LaSalle, sister Frances Roe and husband Doyle, nephew Rodney Roe and wife Christine, niece Renee Watts and husband Neil, many great nieces and nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff, nurses and aids from Providence Hospice/Community Healthcare of Texas for their outstanding support.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice/Community Healthcare of Texas, 6700 Sanger Avenue, Waco, Tx 76710 or Fuzzy Friends. 6321 Airport Road, Waco, Tx 76708.
