William Edwin Kimbrough was born in Childress, Texas, on January 18, 1935, the only child of Bonnie Ruth Groseclose Kimbrough and Loyd Edwin Kimbrough. Loyd passed away the following New Year's Day. Bonnie then married Joseph Horace Liles, who adopted Edwin.
Ed grew up farming and ranching in Shores Creek, outside of Childress, where the family raised Hereford cattle, cotton, and other crops. While a student at Childress High School, Ed met Jolene "Josie" Anderson. After graduating in 1953, they married and moved to Amarillo, Texas, where their three children were born. The family celebrated Ed and Josie's 71st wedding anniversary on October 24, 2024, and their 90th birthdays in January 2025. Ed was a steadfast husband and father who loved, and was loved by, his family.
Ed's working life was in the wholesale distribution of farm implements and equipment. He and Josie moved to Waco, Texas, in 1991 and founded Farm Equipment Distributing, Inc. which later became Alliance Distributing, Inc. He was elected the 2006-2007 president of the Farm Equipment Wholesalers Association.
He earned a private pilot's license in 1968 and enjoyed flying Cessna airplanes. He was a Master Mason, 32d Degree Scottish Rite, Shriner, and member of the American Hereford Association, and First Woodway Baptist OASIS Sunday school class.
Ed was preceded in death by his grandson Luke Patton and sister Betty McNeill.
He is survived by his wife Josie; three children and their spouses: Kathy Patton (Cook), Lynn Peck (Chris), Curt Liles (Liz); six grandchildren and their spouses: Katy Patton Siddons (Ben), Will Peck (Kelly), Laura Lynn Peck Brooks (Gabe), Lauren Liles Cagle (Alec), Carlie Liles Underwood (Kyle), Ross Liles; nine great-grandchildren: Luke, Whitney, and Brooke Siddons, Christopher and Andrew Peck, Anderson, Adalynn, and Tate Cagle, Blakely Liles; brother John "Butch" Liles, and sister Linda Reese.
Memorials may be made to STCH Ministries, dedicated to "J. Luke Patton Endowment", P.O.Box 1210, Beeville TX 78104 (https://www.stchm.org/) or to the charitable organization of your choice.
