Wilma Louise (Broyles) Keeton

August 10, 1932 — February 4, 2022

Waco, Texas

Wilma Louise Broyles Keeton, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 4, 2022 at her home near Waco, TX. Wilma was born August 10, 1932 in Hinton, OK to Chester Broyles and Nova Mount Broyles. She grew up on a big beautiful farm in Chouteau, OK, the middle of 5 children. She then went to nursing school in Muskogee, OK and became a RN. She was a lifelong Baptist.

While working in Paducah, KY, she met Don Keeton, a nuclear engineer with TVA. They married in 1957 and had 3 children. They moved several times with Don's job, but regarded Oak Ridge, TN as their home. Wilma was an expert nurse, cook, keeper of the house, and all things domestic. She especially enjoyed gardening, reading novels, crocheting, making apple butter, and enjoying the beautiful scenery of east Tennessee. What she loved most was being informed in detail regarding what her children and specifically her grandchildren were up to. If she didn't know, she would make it up and believe it.

In 2000, Wilma had a devastating stroke that left most of her left side very weak. She could always be seen walking with Don's help early every morning around their west Waco neighborhood. Recently they moved into a little cottage behind their daughter's house near Lorena and became best friends with a dog named Lovey.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Broyles, and a grandson, Oliver Keeton.

Wilma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Don Keeton; son Joe Keeton and wife Monique Ethier of Taos, NM; son Ken Keeton and wife Mical of Woodbine, MD; and daughter Robin Brady and husband Patrick of Waco, TX; Grandchildren include Erica Keeton, Kyla Brady and Megan Brady. She is also survived by brothers Wally Broyles of Chouteau, OK; and Gordon Broyles of San Antonio, TX; and sister Olive Sanders of DFW.

No services are planned at this time, per Wilma's wishes.

The family would like to thank Patricia Stark, NP and also Bluebonnet Hospice for their loving care.
