Winston Hobart Churchill passed peacefully on May 11, 2026 in McGregor, Texas. He was 83 years old.

Mr. Churchill was born in Hico, Texas January 31, 1943 to Marie Churchill and William Riley Churchill. He joined the Army in 1961 at seventeen years old and served three years in Germany and Korea as a military policeman and very often received the soldier of the month honor. After returning, he married Dianne Canipe on February 15, 1964 in Temple, Texas, whom he had met when they were only 16 years old.

They were married 62 years and raised three children, all of which he was extremely proud. He drove 30 years for Roadway Express in Temple, Texas and repeatedly received the safe driver achievement award. His hard work and dedication allowed him to give his family a beautiful life in the small rural town of Rosenthal, Texas, where they enjoyed life on a small farm while fishing in the tank, riding horses and raising cows, goats, chickens and ducks.

After retirement from Roadway he started a small roasted peanuts business with his brother Bud, but after a short while he began C&C Wholesale Tires, which he ran for 33 years and continued right up until his final weeks.

He also enjoyed raising Longhorn cattle for many years, which he loved dearly and always loved talking about. One of his greatest joys was his yearly hunting trip, usually to New Mexico, but sometimes to Colorado and once to Wyoming. He loved the mountains and wildlife, probably even more than hunting.

Dad also loved to load up the tractor and chainsaws and head out to one of his kids' places, sometimes for days at a time, to help clear brush and do whatever kind of work he possibly could from up on his John Deere.

Mr. Churchill was also very proud to have been raised to the sublime degree of Third-Degree Master Mason in FidelisLodge No. 1127 in 1973. He always sought to practice those principles in his life and relations. He was always quick to smile and never met a stranger and he believed in always passing on one's knowledge and experience, that it might help someone else and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by those who loved him.

Dad was an honorary dad and grandpa to so many young people over his life and was a very good example of how to live a great life.He left us big shoes to fill.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents. He was also preceded by his brother Billy Churchill, brother Angus "Bud" Churchill, sisters Marci Hampton, MariLetha Ballard and Marietta Brister.

He is survived by his wife Dianne Churchill. Children Robby Churchill and wife Rose of Goldthwaite and daughter Ashley of Georgetown, Damon Churchill and daughter Kaycee Gail Churchill of Riesel, Barbara Churchill and wife Christina Churchill of Paige.Sisters Dolly Churchill of Louisiana and Suzie Sudduth of Texas.
