Alan Eugene Wood

Alan Eugene Wood, 87, of Woodway, Texas, entered into the arms of his Lord and Savior on May 29 with family by his side.

Services will be 10 am, Friday, June 3rd at Peace Lutheran Church in Hewitt on with the Rev. Gary Oehlerts officiating followed by interment at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday, June 2 at Grace Gardens.

Alan was born at the family homestead in Cheyenne County, Kansas, on October 3, 1934. After graduating from the Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1953, where he was a Golden Glove Boxer, he served his country in the Navy on the USS Oriskany aircraft carrier. While stationed in Kingsville, TX, he met the love of his life, Margie Lou Everett. They married in 1958. Alan began his career with the National Cash Register Company, which led the family to Waco, Texas in 1971. After a short time at the Waco office, he ventured out and opened his own office equipment business in Bryan, Texas, Business Machines Services. Subsequently, he opened Brazos Business Machines in Waco, and two more offices in Austin, and San Antonio. Alan had a zest for life, was always positive, and loved spending time with family and friends.  He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, hunting, fishing, and served as President of the Waco Coin Club.

Survivors include: daughter, Alana Wood, of Magnolia, Texas, son, Everett Wood and wife Sandra of Pflugerville, Texas, grandsons, Joshua Wood and wife Joan of Austin, Texas, Zachary Wood and fiancé Malú of Austin, Texas, many cousins, nieces and nephews who he dearly loved as well as his friends at Stoney Brook. Those who preceded him in death include his wife, Margie Lou Wood, his brother Glen Frederick Wood, sister-in-law Norma Wood, and his parents, Glen Wood and Anna Marie Wood. We want to thank the nursing staff at Ascension Providence Hospital for the care they gave our father through his final journey.
