Obituary

Alecia Ann Royal Ling, a 25 year resident of Briarcliff, TX passed away Friday, March 17, 2023 after a six year courageous battle with Ovarian Cancer.  She was born on April 28, 1975 in Waco, TX.  At only 47 years old she fought valiantly, had so much more to live for, and will be missed beyond any describable words.  She is now free from cancer and watches over us as an angel. Funeral service will be 11 am, Wednesday, April 5th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home with burial following at Oakwood Cemetery.  A Visitation with the family will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, April 4th at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.

Alecia was born and raised in Waco, TX. She graduated from Midway High School in 1994 where she first met Marcus Ling, her future husband of twenty five years.  In 1995, she was convinced to move to Corpus Christi, TX and later married Marcus on April 18, 1998.  Sadly, her mom, Barbara Ann Royal, passed away one month before their wedding.  Although this was a very difficult time, the birth of their first son later that year helped to heal the loss.  Soon after Hunter’s birth, Marcus and Alecia moved to Briarcliff (Austin).  This is where her second son, Brooks Dylan Ling, was born in 2001.  True lifelong friends (which turned into family) were made there.

In 2002 Alecia went back to college and graduated in 2004 with an Associate of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.  This was quite the undertaking with two young boys.  The last 10 years before she was no longer able to work, she worked at University Federal Credit Union and excelled in the Insurance Dept.

Lake house trips to Lake Buchanan, beach trips to Port Aransas, fishing trips to Port O’connor, RV trips with friends, and countless weekends watching her two sons play baseball and racing mountain bikes consumed most of her time.  She loved her sons dearly and unconditionally.  In 2021, she got the dream house she always wanted in Crystal Beach, TX.  She loved every minute of it and made precious memories with her husband, two sons, and countless friends there.

Knowing life was going to be short, she made multiple trips with many girlfriends and family to numerous places including St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Jackson Hole Wyoming, and Lake Tahoe.  Although she did not get her dream to visit Hawaii, she can now sit on those beaches and put her toes in the sand any day she wishes.  Her husband and two sons are broken hearted but know she is watching over them from above and she will forever be in their hearts.

Alecia is survived by her Husband, Marcus Ling; sons, Hunter and Brooks Ling; Brother, Chad Royal; Sister-In-Law, Michelle Royal; Brother-in-Law, Neil Ling; Sister-in-Law, Colleen Ling; Brother-in-Law, Cody King; Nieces, M’Laina Royal, Morgan Ling; Nephews, Alex Royal, Mason Ling, Gage King; and countless additional family and friends.  Alecia is preceded in death by her Mother Barbara Ann Royal.
