Bill Taverner

William Ivan Taverner, affectionately known as Mr. T., was born on February 6, 1971, in Las Cruces, NM. He went to be with Jesus on May 28, 2023, in Waco, TX.

Bill graduated from Midway High School in 1989 and from Southwest Texas State University in 1993. Bill married the love of his life, Donielle, on May 6, 2000 and they have been residents of Lorena, TX since 2012.

Bill was a highly respected educator loved by so many students. Throughout his teaching career, he taught at Waco High School, Tennyson Middle School Atlas Academy, University High School, and LaVega High School. Bill loved teaching; he considered his students his kids as well.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Ivan Taverner. He leaves behind his wife, Donielle and his children Ryan, Blake, Seth and Sofia and his daughter-in-law, Sarah; his mother, Karen Taverner. His sister and her husband, Brenda and Mike Smith; his sister and her husband, Betty and Pat Hart; his nieces and nephews Alison, Leah and Daniel Hart; his sister in law’s family, Michelle and Steve Griffin and their children Lily and Marshall and his beloved dog, Finnegan.

There will be no graveside service, so the family has requested that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to help support his wife and children.  His family appreciates the many messages and prayers during this difficult time.
