Bob "Robert" Flores

Bob “Robert” Flores passed away Friday, April 9, 2021, at the age of 78.  A visitation will be 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, April 15, 2021, in the Parlor of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr.  The restation of the Rosary will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church,700 Duhurst, San Antonio, Texas.  The Mass will follow at 11:00 A.M at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church with Father Miguel Moreno as Celebrant.  Interment will be 1:45 P.M. Tuesday May 11, 2021, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Mr. Flores was born November 8, 1942, in Del Rio, Texas, the son of the late Ignacio Robert and Matilde (Pulsford) Flores.  He began his education at St. Joseph Academy in Loredo of which he was a 1960 graduate.  He continued his education at San Antonio Jr. College and Angelia College in Lufkin.

On March 23, 1964, he enlisted int the United States Army and was honorably discharged March 22, 1967, as a Medic.   Some of his decorations included Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and an Aircraft Badge.

It has been said that Mr. Flores was a positive and cheerful person who loved to live life to the fullest, as he always had a joke to tell.  As his family and friends meant a lot, Bob had a roster of people he would keep in touch with on a daily basis.  Bob was an avid sports fan who has a cap for about every team.  However, golf was his passion, even in the rain.  On a nice day, you could find him sitting outside listening to music, enjoying the weather or bar be cueing with a cold one.

He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus in Lufkin where he made many lifelong friends.

Survivors include his wife, Rita; a daughter Andrea Flores; a sister Mary Lou Zapata and husband Tom.
