Charlotte Dooley Anderson

October 4, 1946 — October 11, 2022

Waco, Texas

A memorial service for Charlotte Dooley Anderson of Waco will be on Saturday, December 17th at 3pm at First Baptist Church, Waco. Visitation will be at the church before the service beginning at 2pm. A family graveside interment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery at a later date.

Charlotte was born in San Angelo, Texas on October 4, 1946, to Alfred “Dutch” and Mildred Roberts Dooley. She attended Angelo State University and was a graduate of UT San Antonio. Like both of her parents, she spent her career educating children. She began by teaching three-year-olds and then kindergarteners at Kinder Care where she later served as the director for several years. She then spent fifteen years teaching 1st grade and 3rd  grades, as well as teaching GT and dyslexia classes in Edgewood ISD in San Antonio. After retirement, she loved being a children’s Sunday School teacher. Upon moving to Waco to be close to Martha and her family, she loved to visit and read to Martha’s students at South Bosque Elementary and she took her volunteer role very seriously. Many of the faculty at SBE looked forward to her visits.

Charlotte was a very loving Mom and doting Granny. She thoroughly loved watching her two granddaughters, Madi and Molly, pursue their love of dance. She was at as many of their dance recitals, football games, and other performances, as she could attend.  She was so excited to support both first as Midway Goal Tenders and then as Kilgore College Rangerettes. Many on the teams, including the managers and other parents, knew Granny and they loved her enthusiasm, pride, and support of watching all of the girls perform.

Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Martha Minard, and son-in-law Matthew Minard whom she loved as a son, granddaughters Madi Minard and Molly Minard, and grandson-in-law to be Austin Baker. She was very excited about Madi and Austin’s upcoming wedding and she already considered Austin to be her “grandson.” She is also survived by her brother, Fred, and his wife Linda Dooley, nieces Susanna and her husband Evans Boney who are the parents of her adorable grandnephew, Leon, Melinda who was her birthday buddy, and her husband Gary Kennedy. Charlotte grew up with many cousins and she loved each precious one very much and enjoyed keeping them all connected. She is also survived by Bruce’s children Patty Blake and James Anderson, his granddaughter Athena, and her three children Cody, Carter, and Breannah.

She is proceeded in death by her parents and by her beloved Bruce whom she was married for twenty-three years until his passing in 2016. She loved her Scottish New Yorker and they loved to travel and dote on their grandchildren.

Many thanks to the caring staff and loving friends at The Blake where she lived the last four months of her life and especially for her last week of care as she transitioned to Eternal Life.

Charlotte loved the Lord and a devoted prayer warrior for her family and friends. Her knowledge of the Bible was vast and though she had many favorite verses, her favorite verse that she would send each of her family and friends often was Psalm 118:24, “This is the day that the Lord hath made; let us rejoice and give thanks for it.”

We will all miss her hilarious and sometimes dry sense of humor, uplifting and funny texts often with emojis and gifs, her calls, and funny voicemails. She loved birthdays and we loved when she’d sing us Happy Birthday each year. She kept us laughing a lot. We will see you later, alligator, but not to soon, baboon.  Sleep soundly with sweet dreams.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Charlotte’s memory to a cancer center or charity of your choice.
