He is survived by his wife Kristie Ann Plante, sons Ryan Plante, Evan Plante, daughters Briana Kay Davenport, Brittney Nichole Beltran, granddaughter Luna Mae Jackson, brother Steven M. Plante and his wife Lisa Plante of Michigan, and sister Doreen T. Borezo and her husband Mark Borezo of Charlton, MA.
Originally from Massachusetts, Dennis completed his undergraduate studies at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, and went to medical school at the Boston University School of Medicine. He moved to Texas in 1984 to do an Emergency Medicine internship and residency at Fort Hood, Texas, where he remained as an educator and later as the Chief of the Emergency Department/Residency Program. He also was affiliated with the Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, holding a position as assistant professor in the Department of Internal Medicine.
In 1991, after returning from serving in Desert Storm, he left the Army and academic medicine, and since has called Waco his home. He worked at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center until 2010 both as an attending physician, and for a while, as the Director of the Emergency Department. At the time of his death, Dennis was an attending physician in the Providence Hospital Emergency Department in Waco, an attending physician at Sublime Care Emergency Room in the greater Houston area, and owner of Paragon Aesthetics Medical Spa, where he practiced with his wife, Kristie.
Dennis was a patriotic man who served as a Major in the US Army for many years. He was passionate about his career in Emergency Medicine which lasted over 3 and a half decades. He enjoyed flying his Cherokee Piper, traveling with his wife and kids, was a fixer of everything, had a love for Disneyworld, adored his 3 cats, and was so full of life. He was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, and a friend to many.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, radiology techs, staff of Providence, Hillcrest and Sublime Care Emergency Room, and all the prayer warriors around the world for the collaboration of his care. Keep fighting.
