Frank Lee Dahly

Frank Lee Dahly, 85, of Aquilla went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 1, 2020.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Frank was born March 22, 1935 in Downing, Missouri to Charles and Doris Dahly.  He graduated from high school in Winterset Iowa in 1954.  In 1955 he enlisted in the US Army where he served in the Korean War for 2 years as a medic.  In 1960, he enlisted in the US Air Force.  He met the love of his life, Nora Lynn Steele, and they married in Charleston, South Carolina on November 24, 1962.  After completing 4 years in the Air Force he enrolled in State College of Iowa in Cedar Falls.  He graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Industrial Art.  He later enrolled at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and received a Masters degree in Counseling in 1971.  He received honor by being selected to be one of only four counseling psychologists in the US to work for the Veterans Administration in a pilot program created to help Vietnam war veterans.  He provided counseling as well as helped rehabilitate vets by enrolling them in college and trade programs.  He loved his job and helping others was when he was most happy.  He retired from the VA in 1986 after 20 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris (Dahly) Jones, his step-father Lisle Jones, his brothers Charles Dahly and Gilbert Egger, his sister in laws Karen Azlin and Marge Egger, and his brother in law Gary Steele.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Steele Dahly, daughter Brenda Dahly Cowlishaw and husband, Mark, daughter Saralynn Dahly Ainsworth and partner Pamela Preston, grandchildren Samuel Cowlishaw and his wife Jennifer, Laura Cowlishaw, Christian Ainsworth and his wife Samantha, Scott Ainsworth, Dylan Preston and great granddaughter Ainslee Ainsworth.

The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and physical therapists at Providence Hospital & Providence Hospice in Waco as well as West Rest Haven Nursing Home in West for taking such great care of him.  Also, special thanks to Melinda Day from Nurses Unlimited for helping him every day for the last several years.

To our Dad & Grandpa, thank you for showing us truly what it is like to live a life for Christ and for showing us His love every single day.  Your gentleness, kindness and love will never be forgotten.
