J. T. Guthrie

J.T. Guthrie passed away Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the age of 75.  A memorial graveside service and inurnment will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 5, 2021, at Waco Memorial Park with Rev. Pat Cummings officiating.

Mr. Guthrie was born February 14, 1946, in Moody, Texas, the son of the late Walter Virgil and Zettie Lavada (Dennis) Guthrie. At an early age, he moved to Waco where he was a 1964 graduate of University High School.  On October 25, 1963, he married Connie Brown in Waco, Texas.  For thirty-three years, the city of Waco employed him as a fireman and retired as a lieutenant.

For twenty-one years he was a member of Patton Baptist Church in Crawford.  Much of his life was spent bass fishing and hunting.  He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Denise Kathleen Guthrie; a brother, Don Guthrie; four sisters, Christine Holcomb, Charleen Calendar, Dorothy Maxine Jenkins and Delores Grady.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Connie Guthrie; a son, James Todd Guthrie and wife Patricia; a sister, Ernstine Parker and husband Jerry; three grandchildren, Michael Todd Guthrie and wife Haley, Justin Guthrie, Jared Guthrie; two great grandchildren, Marilou Leigh Guthrie and Grayson Kade Guthrie.
