James Gardner Crittenden

July 2, 1929 — March 20, 2020

Waco, Texas

James Gardner Crittenden, 90, of Waco, Texas, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Texas, passed away Friday, March 20, 2020 at Royal Manor Nursing Home, Hewitt, Texas.

He was born in Rapid City, South Dakota.  He was the last of five children born to Donald Gardner Crittenden and Sadie Irene Crittenden. Jim pastored the Cornerstone Church in Mt. Vernon for 30 years. Throughout his life he remained active in many jobs which kept him in contact with a wide variety of people.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ellen Nadine Crittenden; parents; three sisters, Helen, Dorothy, Donna and husbands; his son Bobby Wayne Crittenden; and great grandson James William Holmes.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are a sister Marilyn Wenninger and husband Bernie of Erie, Colorado; daughter Judie Ridley and husband Dave of Waco, Texas; Five Grandchildren, Seven Great grandchildren.

He is also survived by stepchildren. Mike Price and wife Donna, Randy Price and wife Linda, John Price and wife Wanda. Teressa Cochrane and husband Paul. Six granddaughters, two grandsons, thirteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

His family wishes to express their gratitude to the loving and excellent care given to him by Royal Manor Nursing Home and Bluebonnet Home Health and Hospice and the many Physicians and Surgeons who took pride in their excellent care for him.  Memorials should be made to your church or choice of charity for those in need, especially at this time of trauma in our nation.
