Janetta (Branscome) Ellis

August 23, 1951 — June 22, 2020

Woodway, Texas

Janetta Branscome Ellis, beautiful wife, mother, sister, friend and “Dolly” to 7 grandchildren, was called home on June 22, 2020.

Janetta was born on August 23, 1951 to Joseph and Jane Branscome in Terrell, Texas. Janetta met the love of her life, Richard Ellis, in Waco at Richfield High school. She asked him to Corrigan weekend and the rest is history. Richard and Janetta were married on May 30, 1970 and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Janetta was the most amazing and loving mother to 5 girls (2 sets of twins), in addition to, all of their friends.

Janetta was very passionate about all things. She was a lover of all animals, especially her dog, Hondo. She volunteered for 20 years as Victim Services counselor for Waco PD just to give back. She would drop anything at anytime to be there for those in need. Janetta was also quite the fashion trendsetter as she was a buyer for Sanger Harris. She claimed to have single handedly brought “hot pants” into style. She loved to dance, would make anyone laugh and forever, was the life of the party.  She is eternally dancing and laughing now with her beloved “Nee Nee and Nocky.”

Janetta was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Jane Branscome, brother, Randy Branscome, and beloved Hondo Ellis. She is survived by husband Richard Ellis of Waco, brother and sister -in- law Ronnie and Nancy Branscome of Fort Worth, daughters Heather Ellis of Waco, Tiffany Saulters and husband Jason of Round Rock, Lyndsey Sutton and husband Scott of Royce City, Jordan Notgrass and husband Keith of San Antonio, GinnyLee Ellis of Waco, grandchildren Luke Saulters, Ethan Notgrass, Ella, Olivia, Henry, Haddie and Ruthie Sutton and best friend and “sister” JoAnn Clark of Longview.

Pallbearers will be Curt Ellis, Luke Saulters, Ethan Notgrass, Henry Sutton, Jason Saulters, Keith Notgrass, Randall Branscome and Justin Sisco. Son-in-law Scott Sutton will be presiding. Visitation will be Thursday, 6.25.2020 from 5-8pm and services Friday 6.26.2020 at 11am. Please be aware that in accordance with the emergency orders issued by the cities of Waco, Woodway, and Hewitt, face coverings and health screenings are required to attend.

The family would also like to thank very close family friends Lauren Wessinger and Sandy Ray for always being there for us and Mom. We love you both more than you know. And to Ellen Bridger for all of her help.
