Obituary

Janice Lee Griffin passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023. Janice was born on May 28, 1937 to Herbert Lee Cherry and Lilian “Opal” Maricle in Waco, Texas. 

Ms. Griffin was a devoted mother and loved her three children dearly. She was a proud woman and a member of the ladies Axillary at the VFW #6008. 

The ones she loved the most include her children Robert Lee Griffin Jr and wife Sharon of Lorena, TX, and grandchildren; Robert Lee Griffin III and wife Christina of Austin. Daughter Vicky Laine of Williamsburg, VA, her late grandson Jeremy Laine of Newport News, VA and Daniel Laine of Williamsburg, VA. Her two great-grandchildren Autumn Laine and Ava Wright of Williamsburg, VA. Grandson Matthew Laine and significant other Sophie Zwirner of Suffolk, VA and son Jay T. Griffin and wife Ada of Loomis, CA. Janice also leaves behind a sister Sue Beauchamp of Flower Mound, TX. 

Ms. Griffin was predeceased in death by her husband of nearly 50 years Robert Lee Griffin, Sr. former mayor of Hewitt, TX and brother, Noel Cherry of Waco, TX.

A Graveside service will be May 15, 2023, at Waco Memorial Park at noon.
