Linda Lee (Shackelford) Alexander

Waco, Texas

Linda Lee Shackelford Alexander, of Waco, formerly of El Dorado, AR; Clear Lake City, TX; Orlando, FL; and Katy, TX, passed away at home peacefully in her sleep on September 17.  A memorial visitation will be 2 to 3 P.M. Sunday, October 2, 2022, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr.  The memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Mary D. Magnusson officiating.

Linda was born September 30, 1939, in El Dorado, Arkansas where she was raised. She earned her BA in Education from Louisiana Tech University.  After raising her three children, she attended Perkins School of Theology at SMU and was consecrated as a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church in 1991.  She served churches in Houston, TX; Longwood, FL; and Katy, TX.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Seth and Jewel Shackelford of El Dorado, AR, her sister-in-law Frances Shackelford, and her husband of 52 years, Jack D. Alexander II.

Linda is survived by her brother, Gene Shackelford, and wife Jeanette of San Antonio; son Jack Alexander III, daughter-in-law Amy Vowell, and grandson Owen Brooker of Bozeman, MT; son John Alexander, daughter-in-law Ruth Boardman-Alexander, and grandchildren Elizabeth and Evan Alexander of Waco; and daughter Jynjer Alexander Schultz, son-in-law Jim Schultz and grandchildren Carson and Townes Schultz of Houston.

The family extends their sincere appreciation to Linda’s caregivers for their loving care for her.
