Lucille C. (Connor) Schneider

Lucille C. Schneider passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the age of 99 in Waco, Texas.  A visitation will be from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, January 14, 2022, in the Chapel of Grace Gardens Funeral Home, 8220 Woodway Dr. Waco, Texas.   The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Kip Osborne officiating.  Graveside service and interment will be1:00 P.M.  Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Cumby Cemetery in Cumby, Texas.

Lucille was born July 5, 1922, in Cumby, Texas, the daughter of the late Dr. William Ellie and Nancy Blanche (Myers) Connor.  In 1940, she graduated from Cumby High School.  She continued her education at Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas from 1940 – 1941 where she majored in Music Education.  Later, she attended Draughons Business College.

After World War II, she was employed by Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas as a counselor to soldiers returning from the war.  After 15 years of service to Coca Cola Food Division, she retired in 1984.

In October 2007, she joined the Daughters of the Confederacy based on her grandfather’s, James Monroe Connor, participation in the Civil War.  While living in Dallas, Texas, she met the love of her life, Donald Schneider, on a blind date.  On October 18, 1947, they married in Denver, Colorado.

Also preceding her in death were her husband; brothers, Harris, Marvin and Edward (Ed).

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Sharp and husband Terry; a son, Stephen Connor Schneider and wife Cynthia; grandchildren, Sean Schneider, Jeff Welch, Brad Welch, April Bryan, Abby Cec and eleven great-grandchildren.
