Margaret (Schulte) Gohlke, 96, of Crawford, received the fulfillment of her baptism, Monday, May 22, 2023.  Funeral Service will be 2pm, Thursday, May 25, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Crawford, with Rev. Tom Beers officiating.  A Visitation with the family will begin at 12:45 in the fellowship hall.

Margaret was born April 18, 1927, to Henry and Martha (Fehler) Schulte in a little farmhouse of her grandparents, Henry and Emma (Meiske) Fehler.  She was baptized on May 15, 1927, at Peace Lutheran Church in Crawford, and confirmed on April 6, 1941, in the same church.

She attended school in Crawford.  Margaret met the love of her life, Ira Gohlke, from Coryell City, and the two became one on November 14, 1946, at Zion Lutheran Church in McGregor.  The couple enjoyed over 76 years of marriage.  Margaret was an exemplary homemaker and farmer’s wife.  She was a very active member of her church, both Zion Lutheran in McGregor and St. Paul Lutheran in Crawford.  She was also active in her son’s activities and school.  During their high school years, she never missed an event, she has even been known to help warm the boys up prior to their games.

Margaret loved to play dominoes.  She had a thriving vegetable garden.  She even created ceramics for a time.  She was an avid sports fan, attending her children and grandchildren’s games as well as watched many on television.  Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed her time with them.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; sisters, Helene and husband Ray Westerfeld; Lavera and husband Raymond Hampel; sister-in-law, Frances Schulte, and beloved grandson, Jake Gohlke.

Left to carry on her legacy are her beloved husband, Ira; sons, James and wife Sue, Gary and wife Patricia; brother, Henry Schulte, Jr.; grandchildren, Burt Gohlke and wife Ginny, Cody Gohlke, Kelly Patterson and husband Kyle, Jamie Taylor and husband Justin, Jackie Stiba and husband Eric, Vance Gohlke and wife Taylor; eleven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild on the way.
