Marietta (Marti) Holcombe

August 13, 1940 — April 1, 2021

Waco

Marti Holcombe went to be with the Lord on April 1, 2021 after a lengthy illness.

Marti was born in Wayne County, Ohio to Durwood Holcombe and Marjorie Morrison Holcombe and raised in the small town of Bradner, Ohio, the second of six children. She was the homecoming queen and valedictorian of her class in 1958, and then voted Miss Wood County. A voracious reader, she said that she read every book in their public library. She attended Elkhart College before enlisting in the Navy and Corpsman school in Philadelphia. She was a proud mother of three sons, she said were her greatest accomplishment. In her adult life, she lived in Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis, Memphis, and Lubbock before retiring in Waco. She was a member of the American Legion and Lakewood Christian Church. Marti was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and neighbor. She loved to entertain guests, serve others and never met a stranger. She was physically graceful with a love of dancing, competitive roller skating, swimming and all kinds of music, especially music written and performed by her sons. She operated an outdoor skate rental business near Baylor and later worked for her sons with Texas Music Café and Texas Energy Aggregation. She will be loved and missed by many. Special thanks to the staff at Royal Manor and Gentle Transitions Hospice for their care during the last months.

She is survived by her three sons, Jeff Ermoian and Sherri Reid of Morgan’s Point, TJ and Leann Ermoian of China Spring, Chris and Lindy Ermoian of Hewitt, bonus daughter, Brenda Limon-Cole, her eldest brother, Dick Holcombe, nine grandchildren: Krista Hilton, Katrina Filz, Jonah Ermoian, Journey Ermoian, Laurel Latimer, James Ermoian, Alex Ermoian, Elise and Iris Willoughby, along with nine great grandchildren.

A Celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 11th, 2021, starting at noon at Cameron Park’s Northern Gateway Park, 704 Park Lake Drive, Waco, TX 76708. That’s the first part of Cameron Park on the right if you come down Park Lake from HEB.

BBQ served at 1:00, Service at 2:00, and the Ermoian Brothers playing after that, with the park reserved until 9pm. RSVP please to Leann Ermoian at 254-716-7332 (texts are appreciated) or leann@texasenergyabc.com to tell us if you’d like to eat and/or if you wish to bring chips or a side dish. BYOB, but no glass bottles are permitted in the park.

Another celebration of life will be held with family this summer in Bradner, Ohio where her cremains will be interred at Bradner Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions for a tree to be planted in her honor or donation made to Mission Waco.
