Randy Scott Williams

December 29, 1958 — May 13, 2023

Randy Scott Williams passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by his loving family, at Providence Hospice Place on May 13, 2023.

Randy was born to James and Hinia Williams on December 29, 1958 in Orlando, Florida. Randy grew up in Waco, where he attended Richfield High School. He played football and was a proud member of the graduating class of 1977. Shortly after graduation, Randy went to work for Occidental Petroleum (OXY) as a production technician for 20 years.

Randy married Audrey Lea (Audie) Williams on August 12, 1989 at Peace Lutheran Church where they were members for many years. At the time of their union, Randy gained a bonus son, Ryan Tyler Rasberry. Randy and Audie were blessed with two more children, Rhett Layton Williams and Ashton Grace Williams. Through the years, Randy and Audie became a team that, together, received many of life’s blessings and faced many of life’s challenges, always remaining faithful to God’s plan for their lives.

Randy was very active in the Lorena community. One of his greatest joys was playing Santa Claus at Christmas in the Country. He was also passionate about Little League baseball, for which he served on the board, coached, and umpired. He went on to serve as the Texas District 9 Little League Assistant Administrator. He coordinated many softball and baseball tournaments in Waco, including the Southwest Regional Tournaments for teams who moved on to the Little League World Series. Randy also enjoyed umpiring high school and select baseball for 22 years.

Randy was a proud member of Cottonwood Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowship with the BALL (Be Active Live Longer) Club.

As Randy’s health declined, he poured his passion and encouragement into his wife and children. He was a constant encourager as they furthered their education, become established in their professions, coached Little League teams, and became high school baseball umpires themselves.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Leonard, as well as his loving in-laws.

Left to cherish his memory and to be inspired by his example of perseverance are his wife, Audie, as well as their children, adored daughters-in-law, and precious grandchildren:  Ryan and Kimberly Rasberry (Logan and Charlie); Rhett and Kourtney Williams (Rory Jane); Ashton Williams. Randy is also survived by his sister, Susan Williams, and a cousin, who was more like a brother, Larry Williams and his wife, Beverly.

We especially want to thank Kathy Knapp, Randy’s kidney donor, whose selfless gift gave Randy a second chance at life, enabling him to experience many more of life’s precious blessings for the last seven years. Kathy, who at the time was a complete stranger, is now truly part of our family.

Memorials may be made to Lorena Little League (P.O. Box 115, Lorena, 76655) or Community Healthcare of Texas/Providence Hospice (chot.org or 6700 Sanger, Waco 76710) as Randy shared Audie’s passion for end-of-life care in the Waco community.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 19th from 6pm to 8pm with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 20th at 5:30pm. Both services will be held at Grace Gardens Funeral Home.
