Violet V. Barnett-Dorris, 99, of Waco passed away Monday, June 8, 2020, at her home. A Graveside Service will be 10:00 am, Monday, June 15th at Waco Memorial Park.
Granny was born June 18, 1920 in Tekay, rural Hill County, to John and Annie Murphy. She was one of seven children. She spent the majority of her life in Waco. She was a seamstress for JM Woods and Hawk & Buck. Granny was an avid sports fan, cheering on several teams, The Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and all Baylor teams. But nothing compared to time spent with family. She cherished her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren.
She was happily married to Dearl Barnett for 54 years who preceded her in death. She later married Jack Dorris until his death in 1999. Her son Wayne Barnett also preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Ruby Darlene Hardy and husband Gary, Betty Blain; grandchildren, Myrna Gonzales and husband Matt, Larry Blain and wife Gloria, Tonya Strain and husband Kevin, Debby Leonard, Ron Leonard and wife Sandy, Tim Leonard, Rick Leonard, John Barnett and wife Dalana, Mick Barnett and wife Janet; sister in law, Charity Barnett; and numerous great grandchildren; great great grandchildren; and great great great grandchildren.
