Virginia (Garibay) Estrada

June 5, 1930 — January 7, 2022

Hewitt, Texas

Virginia Garibay Estrada, 91, of Hewitt, TX, entered eternal life on Friday, January 7, 2022, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer with her daughters by her side and surrounded in love by her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will have a visitation, Rosary, Mass of Christian burial and interment.  All services will be private.

Virginia was born June 5, 1930, in Waco, TX, to Robert and Prajedes (Medina) Garibay, Sr.

She married Ignacio Estrada on February 8, 1953, in Waco, TX, and was married for 67 years until his death on July 19, 2020.

Virginia graduated from Waco High School in 1951.  She worked for many years in her family’s dry cleaning businesses, first at her father’s business and later at the family business, Holiday Cleaners.

Virginia was a lifelong Catholic and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church in Waco, TX.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings Robert Garibay, Jr., Grace Carrizales, Dora Davila, Adeline Quinones, Lawrence Garibay, Arthur Garibay and John Garibay.

Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Joy Gilbert and husband Gene of Hewitt, Laura Gonzalez of Hewitt, Charles Estrada and wife Lucy of Waco; grandchildren Angela Casarez of Waco, Jennifer Edwards and husband Michael of Mansfield, Felix Gonzalez, Jr. of Hewitt, Erica Estrada of Waco, Ryan Estrada and wife Shelby of Arlington, Catherine Estrada of Waco; great-grandchildren Veronica Schoenduby of Leander, Vanessa Schoenduby of Mansfield, Emilia Edwards of Mansfield, Ayden, Adelina, Adriana and Antonio Estrada of Arlington; sisters Rachel Vega of Austin and Linda Sherer of Mountain City and numerous other relatives.

Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons Felix Gonzalez, Jr. and Ryan Estrada and son-in-law Gene Gilbert.

Due to COVID-19, all services will be private.
